Patri's Selegiline References Page
This page contains useful references to the
drug Selegiline (Deprenyl) as used to slow aging in humans. I
have tried not to include too many redundant and derivative websites,
and to provide as wide a spectrum of viewpoints as can be found
on the web, which is biased towards futurist/extropian/transhumanist
types who are optimistic about the possibilities of technology.
Keep in mind that some of the articles are by people who sell
or promote anti-aging products.
- Individual Articles:
- A couple bigger sites:
- Academia: There are many PubMed abstracts
of relevant scientific articles about selegiline.
- Contraindications: Here is one
version and another
version, of the package insert for Eldepryl.):
- Political: This
site tells the story of the american company DEDI which invented
the liquid form of deprenyl (selegiline citrate) and marketed
it in the US. Because of pressure from the drug company which
manufactures the standard form of deprenyl, the FDA and others
busted DEDI, not only putting it out of business but putting
its founder behind bars. There is moderate scientific and considerable
anecdotal evidence that the citrate form is superior. It is now
available from several other companies.
- Here is a
good general life-extension webpage, which seemed less glitzy
and full of promises to me than the sites which are associated
with companies selling LEX drugs.
- Negative Sites (which were hard to find):
