Oh yeah, those good people at the government are really trying to help protect us from the terrorists...
If its true, this story of Homeland Security trying to confiscate an RPG book is just fucking ridiculous. Tell me again how we aren't moving towards a repressive military dictatorship? (admittedly, we started out very far away, but still...)
Compared to that, this doesn't seem bad, but still: "Strict regulations published by Athens 2004 last week dictate that spectators may be refused admission to events if they are carrying food or drinks made by companies that did not see fit to sponsor the games. Sweltering sports fans who seek refuge from the soaring temperatures with a soft drink other than one made by Coca-Cola will be told to leave the banned refreshment at the gates or be shut out. High on the list of blacklisted beverages is Pepsi...Staff will also be on the lookout for T-shirts, hats and bags displaying the unwelcome logos of non-sponsors. "
As Marginal Revolution says "This sort of nonsense gives property rights a bad name." Here's a Kling-style exercise for the reader: How might the Olympics have obtained money from food and drink sponsors in a way that pleased their consumers more?
